Johannesburg, September 8, 2024 — The 2024 FISU World University Squash Championship concluded today in Johannesburg, South Africa, after a week of intense competition. This event, which brought together top university squash players from around the world, showcased the talents of young athletes while further promoting the sport’s presence among university communities globally.
As one of the few high-level international squash events in Africa, the championship placed Johannesburg in the spotlight for squash enthusiasts worldwide. In the women’s singles final, Spain’s Marta Fernandez triumphed after a thrilling five-game match, winning 3-2. Notably, players Nga Ching Cheng from Hong Kong shone in the women’s competition, claiming three of the four semifinal spots, demonstrating their strong presence in the sport.

The team event was the highlight of the tournament’s final stages, with France emerging as the champion, while Hong Kong took the runner-up position. Both teams showcased exceptional teamwork and skill, earning widespread praise for their performances in the closely contested final.
